We are looking for a multifaceted Commercial Counsel to support the growth of Vista’s business across its multiple products and brands – including VistaJet and XO. The ideal candidate will share Vista’s entrepreneurial spirit, embody a “can do” attitude, and embrace every opportunity to move the business forward while developing their skills as an in-house lawyer.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the international Legal team of a dynamic, high-growth company named one of the world’s most valuable privately-owned companies. 

 

Your Responsibilities

  • Draft, review, and edit commercial legal agreements (including charter and flight service contracts, loyalty and referral programs, marketing and publicity agreements, website and app T&Cs, licenses, leases, vendor contracts, SLAs, MSAs, NDAs, etc.)
  • Negotiate agreements directly with third parties, including clients and their counsel
  • Develop a solid understanding of the company’s product and business goals
  • Provide pragmatic, deal-minded support and advice to a global business team
  • Lead cross-departmental projects from scoping to implementation
  • Assist with the global litigation portfolio (investigations, letters before action, cease & desists, e-discovery, mediations, settlement and releases, etc.)
  • Use and maintain the company’s document, template, and contract repositories
  • Develop and implement sound processes and procedures to drive efficiency
  • Monitor legal developments, conduct legal research, and advise stakeholders
  • Support a wide range of projects and teams on an as needed basis, from HR and Tax to Aircraft Maintenance and Operations

Required Skills, Qualifications, and Experience

Required Qualifications

  • Based in the Dubai area and willing to work on hybrid basis (in office and from home)
  • Standard working hours 10 AM to 7 PM to ensure overlap with UK and US teams
  • Qualified attorney admitted to practice law in Dubai
  • Minimum 4-5 years in a similar role and/or with relevant law firm experience
  • Demonstrable contract drafting and negotiating experience
  • Commercially minded dealmaker with a lawyer’s attention to detail
  • Capable project manager with a knack for pushing tasks forward
  • Empathetic and kind with a sense of humour
  • “No project too small” attitude
  • Process oriented, but not dependent – able to tackle matters of first impression
  • Excellent interpersonal skills – able to translate legal matters to non-legal audience
  • Self-starter – able to work autonomously from time-to-time
  • Responsive – will monitor and engage with work requests outside of standard working hours, particularly during peak periods (g., end of month, quarter and year)
  • Flexible – understands that a global team across multiple time zones may require the occasional evening call / meeting
  • Collaborative – able to get the best out of colleagues
  • Digital literacy with a robust understanding of business tools (MS Office, etc.).
  • Excellent English communication skills both orally and in writing
  • Willingness to learn and embrace new challenges / new areas of law

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with English and/or New York consumer and commercial laws
  • Experience working directly with a sales team
  • Experience working in an international company / with an international client base, particularly in the Middle East
  • Knowledge of (or strong interest in) aviation, luxury and travel industries
  • During training and/or after, exposure to commercial litigation, corporate law, consumer law and contentious/non-contentious employment law
