The Fleet Planning Director is responsible for shaping and overseeing the strategic direction of fleet allocation across the Vista network. The role ensures optimal balance between operational sustainability, revenue maximization, service excellence, and long-term capacity planning. 

 

Leading a team of Senior Fleet Planning Managers and Fleet Planning Managers, the position drives performance, capability development, and process standardization across the function.  

 

In close partnership with Commercial and Operations leadership, the Fleet Planning Director safeguards global fleet performance, anticipates capacity and recovery risks, and ensures strategic aircraft availability aligned with corporate objectives. 

Your Responsibilities

Fleet Planning Strategy & Performance Oversight 

  • Contribute to the development and refinement of Fleet Planning strategies, providing ongoing oversight of daily fleet performance across the Vista network. 
  • Ensure the effective balance of operational sustainability, efficiency, revenue optimization, and premium client experience while maintaining a comprehensive view of fleet capacity constraints and operational risks. 

Process Development & Continuous Improvement 

  • Define, standardize, and implement fleet planning best practices across the organization.   
  • Drive procedural development and process optimization initiatives to enhance consistency, scalability, and operational resilience. 

Cross-Functional Capacity Optimization 

  • Partner closely with Operations and Commercial leadership to optimize fleet capacity, maximize revenue-generating opportunities, and ensure strategic aircraft positioning aligned with business objectives. 

Leadership & Talent Development 

  • Lead, mentor, and develop Senior Fleet Planning Managers and Fleet Planning Managers, fostering a high-performance culture grounded in accountability and continuous improvement.   
  • Conduct annual performance reviews and manage ongoing performance discussions throughout the year, ensuring effective implementation and utilization of performance management frameworks and tools. 

Workforce Planning & Coverage Management  

  • Own the Fleet Planning roster, ensuring optimal resource allocation and coverage to support operational demands, peak activity periods, and business continuity requirements. 

Operational Alignment & Communication  

  • Chair daily operational huddles to align priorities, communicate critical updates, and promote structured knowledge sharing across the Fleet Planning function. 
  • Reinforce clarity of objectives and accountability for execution. 

Peak Period & Capacity Coordination 

  • Oversee the coordination of aircraft holds during high-demand periods across all Vista entities, ensuring strategic capacity protection and alignment with commercial priorities.

Required Skills, Qualifications, and Experience

  • Experience: Proven experience in an operational or commercial role, preferably in private aviation scheduling. 
  • Leadership: Proven ability to lead by example and inspire high-performing teams. 
  • Strategic Thinking: Ability to set long-term goals, anticipate challenges, and make decisions that align with organizational objectives. 
  • Collaboration: Strong ability to build and maintain cross-functional relationships. 
  • Adaptability: Comfortable navigating ambiguity and rapid changes.
